Construction Types

Premier vs. Euro

It's easy to tell a difference between a face frame cabinet and a frameless cabinet at a quick glance. The main difference is whether you can see a wood face frame without opening any doors or drawers. American style, face frame cabinets typically have large gaps between the doors and show the wood face frame all the way around the door. There are two types of face frame cabinet styles that Monschein Industries offers. There is the “Premier Construction” where the door overlays on top of the face frame or the “Premier Full Overlay” Construction style that has less of a visible face frame.

PREMIER (Framed)

Framed Cabinetry (Premier Construction): Is the traditional way American cabinet manufacturers have built cabinets and what you will find in a typical kitchen today. Face frame cabinets carry most of the structure in the face frame and have thinner material for the cabinet box material. They will have door mullions which are additional frame pieces between all of the door and drawer faces. The main advantage to this construction is that it gives the cabinets more strength and sturdiness and there are more design possibilities for creating a customized look.

EURO (Frameless)

Frameless (Euro) Construction: A more contemporary cabinet design, frameless cabinets are the European way of manufacturing cabinets that has become increasingly popular in the American kitchen. The frameless cabinets are built with the cabinet box being the main structure and the face frame is eliminated. The cabinet box relies on a thicker material being used for strength and stability and the doors and drawer glides are attached to the box itself. The doors and drawer fronts completely cover the frame to create a clean, modern look.
